Federal Tax Identification Number
One of the first steps after the corporation or LLC is formed is to obtain a Federal Tax Identification Number [a.k.a. as the Employer Identification Number (EIN)]. Remember, every new entity needs a SEPARATE EIN number. The company will need this to open a bank account, obtain a business license and start payroll… The only time an EIN# is not required is for a shelf corporation.
